As co-owner of The Works Cycle and the woman behind the marketing for all of The Works fitness studios, Foxworth has led many locals to find strength and connection through movement. The 2012 College of Charleston corporate communications major also helps people put their best foot forward as the marketing manager for Shoes on King, which her mother owns. When she’s not leading a cycling session, you might find Foxworth taking a sculpt vinyasa or mat class, caring for her two young boys, or supporting other local businesses. Here, she shares her confidence-boosting style secrets.
Q: Do you have a signature accessory?
A: My gold hoops from Goldbug on Sullivan’s Island; I bought my first pair seven years ago and do not think I’ve taken them off since. Ashley, the owner and designer, even named them “The Works” hoops! Putting on a pair instantly pulls together any look and gives that extra boost of confidence. Wearing workout clothes but want to feel confident? Throw on gold hoops. Need to elevate jeans and a white T-shirt? Gold hoops! Headed on the boat but want to feel chic? Hoops. They always win!
Q: Tell us about your skin-care and makeup routine.
A: I have been seeing Erin at Spa Azure for years now, and I will not use anything else on my skin! Biologique Recherche is the holy grail of skin care, and over the years, has transformed my skin. I have been going to Anitha Powers for makeup as long as I can remember. She works at the Gwynn’s beauty counter and is simply the best. She knows how to give that natural but elevated look. Right now, I am loving Westman Atelier. The bronzer and blush sticks (below) and the highlighter are my go-tos!
Q: What’s on your wardrobe wish list this year?
A: I’m in the market for a good shearling coat. While an investment, it’s something you can have forever. I popped into Veronica Beard on King Street recently, and I have my eyes on this “Danika” shearling jacket (below).
Q: What are your favorite local stores? Tell us about a recent purchase.
A: I try to only shop local! My favorites are Shoes on King, Nette, Hampden, Bennie + Coco, Ship of Fools, Croghan’s Jewel Box, and Gwynn’s. I am obsessed with all things brown suede, especially my new Déhanche “Hollyhock” belt in chocolate from Nette (below) and the Staud “Western Wally” boots from Shoes on King.
Q: What are the shoe styles we should add to our wardrobes this year?
A: Consider a clean-lined, suede sneaker, such as the Vaneli “Queen” (left). Elevating your sneaker look instantly enhances a simple outfit. Every good wardrobe also needs a loafer and a tall boot, such as the Staud “Wally” (right). They’re so versatile and can be styled hundreds of ways.
